Boston Part 1 Recap (Fenway)

July 8

First day in New York was a lot of fun thanks to our event coordinator Mr. Christopher Jardieu, but we are ready for Red Sox vs. Yankees at Fenway Park. Nate Daddy and I (Josh) have been to Boston and Fenway before but this was Collin's virginity trip to both. The city of Boston is absolutely the prettiest city I have been to. Although huge Boston has a very homey small town feel to it. It's very clean compared to other huge cities, for twice a week they clean the streets and sidewalks as well as everyone cleans their stoops and stairs. Boston is my first choice of living outside of Texas.

We arrived in the city around 3 and headed straight to the hotel to check in cause we wanted to get to Fenway as quick as possible. We got our room, threw our luggage in, and walked (mistake as the subway was right there and would have taken 10 min max and we walked for 30) to Fenway. Although far, the walk was nice because we got to see a lot of the city. We stopped into a store and picked up a tall boy for the walk.

Approaching Fenway on a Sunday night is one of the most awesome sights in all of baseball. The atmosphere was booming with excitement. I felt like a little kid in a candy store just staring at all the kiosks, bars and people walking around. What's unique about Fenway is all the streets around the park are blocked off from all cars so people can walk around on the streets. It just makes the environment that much more unique and special. We went into a souvenir shop and Nate got a shirt, hat, and pennant; Collin got a shirt; and I got a hat. We decided to go to a couple of bars before the game and have a few drinks. We found one of those baseball pitch counter clickers and decided to keep our drink count on it. This was a lot of fun at the end of the night. Side note: Everyone is so nice in Boston and greet you with there Northern accents. Anytime you ask anyone for help they stop and not only give you answers to what you asked them but will also give you their opinions. For example, when we asked a lady how to get to a close restaurant for good Boston food she told us one but then gave us a place a bit further that turned out to be so much better. This doesn't happen in places like New York  where no one would stop and help you like that.

Anyways back to the game, the bars outside Fenway were a lot of fun but about two hours before game time we decided it was time to go into the greatest baseball park in America for the biggest rivalry. We got to see some Yankees batting practice and then it was time for the game. The game was a lot of fun. Since Nate Daddy and I had been there before we remember the game very well, but as we predicted Collin does not because he was in awe of the atmosphere. You have to go to Fenway twice to get the full experience. The fans are all into the game. We had great seats in centerfield about 10 rows up. Collin ate a burger he says was the greatest he has ever had....(I think it could of been the beer talking) Nate and I had some great nachos. The game went by so fast with some great offense mostly from the Yankees who ended up winning 7-2.

The best part of the game is definitely during the 7th inning stretch when everyone including opposing fans stand and sing Sweet Caroline: side note we had joined in and by joined in I mean started the heckling of a Yankees couple sitting a couple of rows up....the female being attractive and the male being bald...we began to yell "bald guy go" "hot girl stay" and we got a good amount of fans to join in! Back to Sweet Caroline we sang our hearts out as loud as we could. It's so cool to hear all the fans going crazy during the song. It's definitely an experience that everyone should be a part of at least once in their life. The game ended and we got some good pictures on the Green Monster.

After the game we continued our bar hopping and then got two medium pizzas from dominoes of all places and headed home in cab. We scarfed down the pizzas in our hotel room while reminiscing about our incredible night and then crashed. First night Boston score Us 1-Boston 0.
