Milwaukee Recap

After an epic trip to Chicago, we began our short drive over to Milwaukee for a 1:15 first pitch at the Brewers vs. Diamondbacks game. The drive was only an hour and a half, so we rolled up to the stadium around 11 a.m. What's cool about Miller Park is that it's located just outside the city pretty much completely by itself. Most stadiums are sep into cities and surrounded by hotels, restaurants, and bars. Miller Park is surrounded by open fields and a few industrial buildings so the atmosphere was much different. There wasn't any buzzing of cars or business of walking downtown streets. It's completely different at Miller Park. As you drive up the small entrance to the stadium all you see is thousands and thousands of people tailgating.... that's right. Huge tailgates at an MLB day game on a Sunday. I have seen some tailgating at baseball games before but nothing like this. It was almost like we were at Kyle Field for an Aggie football game except for everyone wearing blue and yellow and the temperature was a cool 85 degrees. Needless to say it was a cool and unique atmosphere.

Now speaking of 85 degrees, in Milwaukee apparently this is a really hot day. People were making comments like "it's so hot" and "better put sunscreen on". Sorry to burst your bubble Milwaukeenites but it's currently 106 in Texas with humidity levels that could choke an African camel. Even ridiculously white Nate Daddy went without sunscreen and made it without any sunburn. In the words of Chris Berman, "COME ON MAN!"

As soon as we parked, we tok some pictures outside the park. We first asked a man to take one but quickly realized this was a job for an experienced veteran woman as the picture came out with a huge glare and had no part of the sign we wanted in the pic. So the next beautiful woman that walked up we decided to ask. I thought Collin asked "Would you like to take a picture WITH us?" We were impressed by his quick ability to hit on such an experienced veteran and also mother of child she was with and wife of a Bruce Willis look-a-like but I was mistaken. He simply asked if she would take the pic. What a let down!!

We got our pictures and headed into the stadium where it was Italian Heritage Day. This got me (Josh) thinking since we in Texas do not really have Italian heritage but celebrate Cinco de Mayo for obvious reasons, do places up north celebrate Cinco de Mayo? Do the guidos celebrate both? I (once again Josh) have so many questions I would like to ask guidos but really all that needs to be said is WHY?! I digress...

We entered the stadium and we got our free Italian sausage bobble head which has now become our car mascot even though the damn thing will not stay up on the dashboard. We then watched some batting practice and got a famous Brat. The game was a lot of fun (probably the worst sentence ever haha). It was a pitching duel that ended with a walk-off steal/double error and a score of 2-1. First time any of us had seen that happen before. As we were stuck in the parking lot trying to leave the game a... let's just say not the best mannered looking woman knocked on the car window. Collin rolls it down and she says and I quote, "Do any of you have a cigarette? I will flash you for it." We all yelled out NO emphatically. Even if one of us did smoke we would have quickly gone cold turkey to stay away from her.

Finally, we got out of the parking lot and went to Walmart (I swear we stop at a Wally World each day) to pick up some essentials and then headed to the Crowne Plaza for the night. When we arrived at the hotel there was a wedding party in the lobby that had more nationalities in it than a United Nations conference. We were very tired so we decided to stay in the hotel and not go out in the city. We ate dinner and enjoyed the hotel hot tub. After that, we watched some Olympic Trials and saw Nastia Liukin (who all of us find highly attractive) eat it on the uneven bars felt bad for her but awesome she finished the routine.

Overall a very fun and unique time in Milwaukee. Next up the Motor City (Detroit for those who didn't know that). Another blog will be posted soon.

Collin likes the park because it is sponsored by his favorite beer, Miller Lite.

The stadium as huge, but it was strange looking and outside the city
